We know how important it is to be able to remain at home and receive the care and support you need as you grow older. We also recognise that from time-to-time carers themselves may need some support. Our range of high quality, flexible and responsive respite services aim to meet both the individual and carers’ needs.
Respite care allows the individuals to get a much needed break from the daily stress of attending to a family member who requires close attention. To see the range of cover we can provide please look at our Hourly Care page.
Respite care is provided in a variety of ways. Most often, one of our carers comes to the home to take over the duties you usually provide.
One of our fully-trained care professionals will move into the home and continue the routines and lifestyle of the person being cared for, reducing disruption and anxiety. As always, you are in complete control and we work to suit your needs, not ours.
To discuss and assess your needs, we offer a FREE HOME VISIT. Please call us on 01865 391187 or contact us online.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical, emotional and financial consequences for the family caregiver can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite.
Respite provides the much needed temporary break from the often exhausting challenges faced by the family caregiver.
Without respite, not only can families suffer economically and emotionally, caregivers themselves may face serious health and social risks as a result of stress associated with continuous caregiving.
Three fifths of family caregivers age 19-64 surveyed recently by the Commonwealth Fund reported fair or poor health, one or more chronic conditions, or a disability, compared with only one-third of non caregivers.
Respite has been shown to help sustain the family caregiver's health and wellbeing, avoid or delay out-of-home placements, and reduce the likelihood of abuse and neglect.
An outcome based evaluation pilot study show that respite may also reduce the likelihood of divorce and help sustain marriages.
